Terms of Service

Last updated November 4, 2026

These terms govern your use of Sila (sila.sh), operated by Ton Nguyen.

Acceptance

By creating an account or using the API you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

Sila fetches public web pages on your request and returns markdown, HTML, page signals and screenshots, through the dashboard and the /v1 API. Features and limits may change as the product evolves.

Accounts and API keys

You are responsible for your account and for keeping API keys and webhook secrets confidential. Activity made with your keys is treated as yours. Revoke a key in the dashboard if it may be exposed.

Plans and credits

Usage is metered in credits: 1 credit for a page fetched statically, and 5 credits for a page that needed the headless browser or any request that includes a screenshot. Credits are included monthly with your plan, reset on the first day of each month (UTC), and do not roll over. Each plan also limits concurrent crawls and pages per crawl. When credits run out, requests return an error until the next reset or an upgrade.

Billing

Paid plans are monthly subscriptions processed by Polar, which acts as merchant of record and handles taxes. You can change or cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service for anything illegal, or to infringe others' rights;
  • attack, overload or probe third-party sites or Sila itself;
  • circumvent authentication, paywalls or access controls;
  • target private networks or internal addresses (these are blocked);
  • evade rate limits, abuse limits or credit metering.

You are responsible for what you crawl and for the robots.txt setting you choose. Respect the terms of the sites you fetch and applicable law. We may throttle or suspend access that appears abusive.

Your content and crawled data

You keep your rights to the URLs, settings and data you submit and to the results you receive. You are responsible for having the right to fetch and use that data. Crawl results are stored for 14 days and then deleted; download what you need before then.

Availability

The service is provided on a best-effort basis. There is no uptime guarantee or service-level agreement.

Intellectual property

Sila, its software, design and branding belong to its operator. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive right to use the service while you comply with them.

Disclaimer

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that pages can be fetched, that results are complete or accurate, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the three months before the claim.

Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account in Settings at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or put the service at risk.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in the dashboard; continued use after a change means you accept it.

Disputes and contact

If something goes wrong, email support@sila.sh first. We will try to resolve disputes there before any other process.
